The desert didn't forgive.
It remembered.
Moonlight spilled across the abandoned fort on the outskirts of Rajasthan, turning stone into silver and shadows into weapons. The wind carried the scent of sand, rust, and old blood—familiar territory for men who had been born into war.
Kabir Rathod stood at the center of it.
Still. Silent. Deadly.
Veer flanked him on the right, eyes sharp, gun steady despite the faint ache in his arm. On Kabir's left stood Kavya Rathod—shoulders squared, braid tucked beneath her jacket, blade resting comfortably against her thigh like an extension of her body.
Not protected.
Not sheltered.
Ready.
"This ends tonight," Kabir said quietly.
No speeches.
No vows.
Just fact.
They moved as one.
⸻
Rafi Had Always Been a Coward
He had power once—through fear, through deals made in the dark, through men who followed him because they were too weak to stand alone.
Tonight, he had none of it.
His guards fell fast.
Too fast.
Veer took the first shot—clean, precise—dropping the man near the watchtower before he could raise the alarm.
Kavya moved next.
She didn't hesitate.
Didn't flinch.
Didn't miss.
Her blade flashed once, twice, controlled and efficient. She fought like she had trained not for survival—but for certainty.
Kabir watched her only long enough to confirm what he already knew.
She was Rathod.
⸻
Face to Face
Rafi backed away as Kabir stepped into the torchlight.
"So the king comes himself," Rafi sneered, panic barely hidden. "Couldn't send your men?"
Kabir removed his jacket slowly.
"I am the man," he said.
Rafi's eyes darted—to Veer, to Kavya, to the exits that no longer existed.
"You think killing me ends this?" Rafi spat. "There will always be another—"
Kabir struck him mid-sentence.
One blow.
Enough to drop him to his knees.
Veer stood back, gun lowered—not because he wasn't ready, but because he trusted Kabir to finish it.
Kavya stepped closer, eyes cold.
"This isn't about revenge," she said. "It's about erasing you."
Rafi laughed weakly. "You? A girl playing warrior?"
Kavya knelt in front of him, blade resting lightly under his chin.
"No," she replied calmly. "A warrior who doesn't need to play."
She stood.
Kabir raised his gun.
There was no anger on his face.
Only resolve.
"For every threat you made," Kabir said.
"For every shadow you hid behind."
The shot echoed through the fort.
Rafi fell.
And stayed down.
⸻
After
Silence followed.
Not relief.
Not triumph.
Closure.
Veer exhaled slowly, rolling his shoulder. "It's done."
Kabir nodded.
Kavya wiped her blade clean, slid it back into place without ceremony.
No shaking hands.
No celebration.
They turned away together.
⸻
Three Shadows, One Bloodline
As they walked back toward the waiting vehicles, the moon followed them—three silhouettes moving in perfect sync.
Kabir in the center.
Veer steady at his side.
Kavya walking with her head high, eyes forward, unafraid of the path ahead.
Not a princess.
Not protected.
A Rathod.
And the world would learn, sooner or later—
That when the Rathods walked together, wars ended.
⸻
Elsewhere
At Rathod Palace, Ishita stirred in her sleep, hand resting over her stomach.
Something eased in her chest.
The child within her was safe.
For now.
