Final Chapter: Where Life Begins
Peace didn't arrive loudly.
It came in small moments.
In the quiet mornings at Rathod Palace, where sunlight filtered through old jharokhas and settled gently on marble floors. In the way the air felt lighter—like something heavy had finally been laid to rest.
Ishita realized it first when she woke up crying.
For no reason.
Kabir sat up instantly. "What happened?"
She shook her head, tears spilling freely. "I don't know."
That scared him more than any enemy ever had.
He pulled her into his arms, holding her carefully, one hand resting protectively over her stomach. She clung to him, crying harder now, frustration and exhaustion mixing together.
"I'm angry," she sobbed. "And hungry. And tired. And I hate everyone."
Kabir pressed his lips to her hair, voice calm. "That's alright."
She looked up at him, eyes red. "No, it's not."
He smiled softly. "It is when you're carrying our child."
She laughed through tears—and then cried again.
Kabir didn't let go.

The Palace Learns Quickly
By afternoon, the entire palace knew.
Not because Ishita announced it—but because Veer walked into the living room to find her glaring at the television.
"This serial is stupid," she snapped.
Veer blinked. "You were watching it yesterday."
"I hated it yesterday too."
Kavya, sprawled dramatically on the floor with a bowl of fruit, burst out laughing. "Oh no."
Veer frowned. "What?"
Kavya grinned. "Mood swings."
Veer's eyes widened. "Already?"
Ishita threw a cushion at him. "Say one more word."
Veer caught it easily, smiling. "I take it back. You're terrifying."
Kabir entered just in time to witness Ishita trying—and failing—to stand up.
"Chocolate," she demanded.
Kabir sighed. "You just had lunch."
"I want chocolate."
Veer stood immediately. "I'll get it."
Kavya shot him a look. "Sit. You'll bring the wrong one."
She turned to Ishita. "Dark or milk?"
"Both."
Kavya nodded solemnly. "Understandable."
Kabir watched them, heart full in a way that felt unfamiliar—and overwhelming.
This was what he had fought for.

Small Wishes, Big Love
Some days Ishita wanted silence.
Other days, she wanted chaos.
On one such afternoon, she declared, "I want to watch movies."
Kabir checked his watch. "You have a check-up in an hour."
She crossed her arms. "I want movies."
Veer stretched lazily. "Which genre?"
"Romantic."
Kabir stiffened. "No."
Kavya raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
"Because she cries," Kabir replied flatly.
Ishita smiled sweetly. "I do."
They watched anyway.
Fifteen minutes in, Ishita was crying.
Veer passed her tissues.
Twenty minutes later, she was laughing.
Thirty minutes later, she was asleep—head resting on Kabir's shoulder.
Kabir didn't move.
Didn't breathe too loudly.
Veer and Kavya exchanged a look and quietly turned the volume down.
⸻
Evenings That Felt Like Home
Dinner became an event.
Not because of formality—but because Ishita's cravings changed every day.
"I want rajma," she announced one evening.
Kabir nodded. "Done."
Five minutes later: "No, wait. I want dosa."
Veer groaned. "Pick a country."
Kavya laughed. "She's growing a human. Let her choose continents."
Kabir cooked.
Burned the first batch.
Didn't care.
Ishita sat on the counter, watching him with soft eyes.
"You don't have to do this," she said quietly.
Kabir glanced at her. "I want to."
That night, as they ate together—family gathered around the long dining table—Ishita felt something she had never truly known before.
Belonging.
⸻
Quiet Nights
Later, when the palace slept, Kabir lay beside Ishita, tracing slow circles on her arm.
"Are you scared?" he asked.
She thought for a moment. "No. Just... overwhelmed."
He nodded. "Me too."
She turned toward him. "You'll be a good father."
Kabir's throat tightened. "I hope so."
She placed his hand over her stomach.
The future shifted.
Just slightly.
And everything felt right.
⸻
The Rathods, At Rest
In the days that followed, the palace softened.
Veer read reports beside Ishita while she snacked.
Kavya braided her hair and whispered secrets.
Kabir watched them all—protective, grateful, grounded.
The warriors had laid their weapons down.
For now.
Because life was growing.
And this time, they would protect it together.
